STEM IN A TIME MACHINE

WE CAN LOOK THROUGH HISTORY'S PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND SEE THAT STEM HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE THE BEGINNING, AS PEOPLE HAVE WORKED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OF THEIR CIVILIZATIONS.

SOLVE an everyday problem faced by a culture - ordinary people solved problems every day. Have students identify the technological needs and the available resources of the time.

MODIFY an invention used currently. Think about the problems of that technology and how you could make it even better.

As we try to RECREATE the technology or inventions of the past, we can take a look at the ways of living before that technology, and the insight into the struggles of the people of that particular time.

IMPROVE an invention from another era. This helps students not only recreate the technology, but also review how it was improved as time passed.

Find a COMMON PROBLEM, either through need or desire, throughout history and see different civilizations' solutions. Have different groups work on separate time periods or locations.
